Obituary of Stephen L. Campbell

Stephen L. Campbell, 59, of Schwenksville, formerly of Wellsboro, PA, passed away on January 9, 2017 at Phoenixville Hospital. He was born on July 17, 1957 in Millport, NY; the son of the late Lyle and Shirley Campbell. Steve has been living in Schwenksville for 17 years. He was a Correctional Officer at SCI- Graterford for 25 years, where he was well respected and known as Captain Steve. He was the “People’s Captain”, a “gray shirt in a white shirt”, who often lead by example and has mentored countless staff. He was awarded the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections Medal of Valor in 2001 and was selected as Employee of the Quarter. An Air Force and Navy Veteran, he was most recently honored with the Patriots Award for his efforts supporting Military Personnel. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and was a member of Bikers Against Child Abuse. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion. Steve is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Smith (Madeline) of Schwenksville; two sons, Richard (Melissa) Campbell of Bel Air, MD; and Eli Quinn of Portland, OR; three daughters, Jaime Campbell (Brandon Fitch) of Linfield, PA; Mandee Quinn (Peter Hand) of Bridgeport, PA; and Jesse Quinn of Schwenksville, PA; two sisters, Bobbie Kinsman and Terry (Wes) McNett; two brothers, Scott Campbell and Mitchell (Sue) Campbell; as well as 13 grandchildren, who were his greatest joy; Romero, Greysen, Dustin, Chase, Harper, Damien, Rob, Jeremey, Samantha, Lily, Molly, Phinn and Dax, who all affectionately called him “Scampa”. His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11 AM from the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 W. Main St., Trappe PA 19426. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, January 13 from 12 - 3 PM and on Saturday morning from 10 - 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Correctional Peace Officers Foundation, PO Box 348390, Sacramento CA 95834 or to the charity of your choice .
