Obituary of John F. Phipps, Sr.

John F. "Jack" Phipps, Sr., 82, of Plymouth Meeting, PA passed away on Monday March 13, 2017. He was born in Norristown, PA on December 10, 1934. Jack has lived in Plymouth Meeting, PA for the last 57 years, formerly of Conshohocken, PA. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord RC Church, where he was employed as the sexton after working as the Head of Maintenance for over 40 years, and also volunteered with Pre-Canna classes, Marriage Encounter and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served in the US Marines after the Korean War. He was the oldest living member of Conshohocken #2 Fire Company having joined in 1953. Jack joined Harmonville Fire Company in 1960, holding many fire line and administrative positions including Chief. Jack was also instrumental in bringing medical helicopters to Montgomery County having been chairman of the county wide committee to research the idea in 1971. Son of the Late Edward & Helen (Ronan) Phipps. Beloved wife of the Late - Lenore (Reigner) Phipps. Survivors include his Daughter: Donna (& Ed) Sturm Plymouth Meeting PA Son: John Jr. "Jeff" (& Bethanne) Phipps Roxborough PA Daughter: Rebekah (& Joseph) Picard Conshohocken PA Daughter: Elisabeth (& Rocco) Cione Plymouth Meeting PA Sister In Law: Jane (late Robert) Phipps NJ Also survived by 10 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren. Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers Robert Phipps, Edward Phipps & Richard Phipps, and a sister Dolores Caracappa. His Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 10:30 AM from the Epiphany of Our Lord RC Church, 3050 Walton & Township Line Road, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462. Fr. Joseph J. Quindlen will be officiating. Friends may call on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 PM & Monday morning, March 20, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:15 AM at the Church. Interment will take place in George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting, PA.
