Obituary of Khadija Hall

Khadija Amina Hall, 51, of Germantown, PA went home to Glory on Thursday, August 4, 2016. She was born on September 20, 1964 at the Women’s Medical College of Philadelphia which is now a part of the Drexel University College of Medicine. Khadija, the oldest of three, spent her formative years in Germantown a section of Philadelphia. She attended primary school at Project Learn and then graduated high school from The Miquon Upper School now known as The Crefeld School. Khadija continued her education at The Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, now known as Philadelphia University, before changing plans to pursue Culinary Arts in Tampa, Florida. Living in Florida she found love with Tortolan born Arnold Smith. Though they never married, their loved produced a Son. Her pride and joy, Jamard, was born in the summer of 1986. After some years Khadija would move back to Philadelphia to raise her Son. She began working as a professional chef, spending several years at the DoubleTree in Center City Philadelphia honing her craft. She later moved on to running the Box Lunch division of the Pennsylvania General Store in the historic Reading Terminal Market. Another change of plans brought her to Quest Diagnostics in 1998, where she spent the last 18 years of her career. Khadija loved to shop and always seemed to have the exact ‘thing’ you needed handy. Whether it was a sweater when you were cold, a chapstick, a hat or scarf , or a hug to brighten your day; she had you covered. Her love for cooking never faded, and she brought the same zest and zeal to cooking at home as she did when cooking professionally. Khadija also loved pets and loved to garden. Khadija was a dedicated Mother, and Grandmother. She sacrificed her own dreams to provide a better life for her Son moving outside of the city into a better school district and eventually seeing Jamard graduate from college. She was more than incredible as a Mother, and a caring light in every life she touched. Khadija is the beloved daughter of Farrell Calvin Hall of Florida and Catherine Emma Hall (née Smith) of Philadelphia. In addition to her parents she is also survived by her son, Jamard Smith of Mckees Rocks, PA; daughter-in-law, Ariel Smith of Mckees Rocks, PA; brother, Shareif Hall of Philadelphia, PA; brother, Krishna Hall of Philadelphia PA; sister, Rana Hall of Atlanta, GA; sister, Sasha Hall of Florida; and grandson, Kensley Jackson Smith of Mckees Rocks, PA. She is also survived by many other loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 19 East Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA 19401. Friends may call on Monday morning from 10:00 AM to 11: 00 AM at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the family. Please send condolences to: Jamard and Ariel Smith, c/o 19 E. Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA 19401.
