Obituary of Joseph R. Maiello

Joseph R. Maiello, 74, of Spring Mount, Pa passed away on Friday September 16, 2016. He was born in Doppi, Piacenza, ITALY on March 20, 1942. Joseph has been living in Spring Mount since 1972. He was born in Italy, and raised in Ambler, Pa. He was a member of St. Mary's Church of Schwenksville, Pa. He served in the US Navy from 1963-1967, where he received the Good Conduct Medal. He was a graduate of Ursinus College and worked for Sperry-Univac Corporation (later Unisys) and for the latter of his career as Vice President with Radiation Sciences, (now Retlif Corp. ) Harleysville, Pa. Anyone who knew Joseph knew of his endless kindnesses and that he was always available to help those in need, from family and friends to perfect strangers. After retirement, he volunteered at Grandview Hospital, Sellersville. He also served as township supervisor with Lower Frederick township for 17 years. ? Son of Frank & the late Maria ( Bersani ) Maiello, survivors include his Wife,?Fern L. (Strasser)Maiello??Spring Mount PA; Daughter ,?Keri and son-in-law Andy Laign,and a beloved granddaughter Emilia,?Chestnut Hill Pa.; Sister,?Linda Prospero and brother-in-law Ron DeCicco,?Princeton NJ; sister-in-law Susan Maiello, Limerick, Pa.; as well as several nieces and nephews in the U.S. and cousins in Italy. Along with his mother he was preceded in death by a brother Frank A. Maiello, & a sister Angela Ditzel. His memorial mass will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Church 40 Spring Mount Road, Schwenksville Fr. Brian Kean will be officiating. Friends may call on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11: 00 AM at the church. Interment will take place at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, Pa 19002. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: Wounded Warrior Project, 301 Grant Street, Suite 900, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Joseph has been living in Spring Mount since 1972.
