Obituary of Gerald Thomas Janda, Sr.

Gerald Thomas Janda, Sr., age 80, of Collegeville, PA passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025.

He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 21, 1944, the son of the late Francis and the late Edith (Bulik) Janda.  He was a former resident of the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia.  He was a retired Batallion Chief with the Philadelphia Fire Department, where he was in charge of the Hazardous Materials Department.   Following his retirement from the Fire Department, he worked in Safety and Security for Arco/Lyondell.  

Jerry honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. 

He was the husband of the late Donna Janda (née Ensinger).  

He is survived by his son, Gerald (Lisa) Janda, Jr. of  Warminster, PA; daughter, Judy (Christopher) Tibbetts of Myrtle Beach, SC; step daughter, Angela (Julius) DeVera of Mont Clare, PA; nine grandchildren, Vincent, Markus, Colin, Talia, Thomas, Hayden, Ethan, Isabella and Mackenzie. 

Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Francis Jr. and  James Janda. 

His Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM from St. Eleanor's RC Church, 647 Locust Street, Collegeville, PA 19426.  Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Church.

Interment will take place on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 9:30 AM in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.  Please arrive to the cemetery no later than 9:15 AM.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to: Home at Last Dog Rescue, 100 W. Main St., Lansdale, PA 19446.
