George W. Gebhardt, 89, of Conshohocken, PA passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Mercy Suburban Hospital of East Norriton, PA. Born in the Roxborough, section of Philadelphia, PA on March 5, 1925, George had lived in Conshohocken most of his life, except growing up in West Conshohocken. A retired brick layer with Norristown Local 54. He served in the US Army during World War II. He served as a corporal with Company A 927th Battalion, he received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, EAME Theater Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and the Victory Medal. George was a Member and Past President of Conshohocken V.F.W Post 1074. Survivors include daughter: Margaret Zwerko of Conshohocken, PA; sons: George B. Gebhardt of Conshohocken, PA, and Richard Gebhardt of Boston, MA. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his wife, Loretta J. (McIntyre), parents, George W. Gebhardt and Elizabeth (Cain), and a son, William Gebhardt. His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 10:00 AM from the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 300 Fayette Street, Conshohocken. Friends may call on Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:00AM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
