Obituary of Martin Lare

Martin "Murph" Lare, age 85, of Conshohocken, PA, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born on August 29, 1939, the son of the late Daniel and Mary (Brett) Lare. Murph was a lifelong resident of Conshohocken and parishioner of St. Matthew’s RC Church.

Murph worked with his father at the Westfield Paper Company in West Conshohocken. From there, he went on to Leeds & Northrup where he spent his career as a Systems Technician. He also bartended at the Conshohocken Bocce Club (CBC) for over 40 years. His many interests included golfing, fishing, crabbing, traveling, skiing and running marathons.

Murph spent his summers at the Jersey Shore where he was a member of the Villas Fishing Club and the North Wildwood Elks Lodge.

He loved going to the beach in Stone Harbor with his family, especially his grandchildren, where they would “dig big holes."

Not only was Murph an avid Alabama and Penn State football fan, he was an Eagles season ticket holder for 57 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Rose P. Lare (DiScanno) of Conshohocken; daughter, Lisa (Bill) Crawford of Conshohocken; son, Mark Lare (Katie Young) of Conshohocken; and three grandchildren, Emily (Clayton) Cassidy, Victoria Lare, and Anthony Lare. His great grand-fur babies, Thunder,  Arlo, Philly and Tuna.

In addition to Murph’s many interests, he found joy in his ‘68 Ford Mustang but his greatest love was his family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Interment will be private in St. Matthew’s Cemetery.

Murph’s family will hold a celebration of life on Saturday, October 19th, from 7PM to Midnight at the Conshohocken Bocce Club, 339 W. 3rd Ave., Conshohocken, PA 19428.
