Obituary of Samantha P. Schwartz

Samantha P. Schwartz

Samantha P. Schwartz, 32, of Collegeville, PA passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025.

Sammie was born in Phoenixville on July 6, 1992, the daughter of Paul and Anita M. (Rowan) Schwartz. She moved through the world as a kind, considerate and respectful person, her parents said, adding that she was always that way, even when she was little.

“Samantha is and will always be my better half,” said her fiancé, Brandon Burd. “We were like an old married couple. I wouldn't change it for the world.”

When Sammie met Brandon, he came with a small son, Heath, who quickly became part of the family. “Thank you for taking in me and our son Heath,” Brandon said of Sammie after her passing. “I will always love you, now and forever.”

As a writer, Sammie told stories with a wry sense of humor and an eye for detail so vivid that “she put you in the room,” her father said.

Sammie not only loved animals, she trained her own service dogs. Gulliver, or Gullie, was so well-trained that he became not only a service dog but a true assistant. One of Sammie’s earliest service pups, Sadie, “opted out” of service dogdom only to become a beloved Schwartz family pet.

While living in California, Sammie rescued Delaney the cat, who accompanied her back to the East Coast and never left her side. She also had Avador, who was in training as Sammie’s newest service dog at the time of her passing. Sammie loved all her animals; they were always her babies.

Besides animals, Sammie liked gaming, especially cozy games such as Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing. She was a prolific reader; reading up to the three books at a time on any number of subjects, especially fantasy novels.

Survivors include Sammie's parents, Paul and Anita of Collegeville, her sister, Nicole Schwartz Haines of Edmonton, Canada and her fiancé, Brandon Burd.

The service and interment for Sammie was private.

Memorial Contributions may be made in her memory to Cat Angel Network, Post Office Box 3071, Stowe, PA 19464 or Providence  Animal Rescue, 555 Sandy Bank Road, Media, Pa 19063.
