Obituary of Dennis A. Conlan
Dennis A. Conlan, age 83, of Plymouth Meeting, PA passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025.
Husband, Father, Pop, Son, Friend, Uncle and Cousin. Dennis was this and so much more to many people.
He was born in Detroit, MI on October 21, 1941, the son of the late Ford H. and Sally J. (Cannan) Conlan.
Dennis lived in Newark, DE for his last two years of high school and then attended the University of Delaware before moving to Plymouth Meeting, PA with his late wife, Meredith (Frye) Conlan, where he has resided for 57 years.
While he worked as an Engineer in his career, he was able to travel the world and occasionally with Meredith (but only those locations deemed exciting). He volunteered for years keeping the Plymouth Township Soccer League moving forward. He loved to play tennis with the guys during the week and mixed doubles on weekends. Dennis was an avid reader, a trait that he passed down to his children and grandchildren. Those who played poker and bridge with him know his expertise in card games.
We would be remiss without mentioning Dennis’s love of watching Philadelphia sports, including the Eagles and Phillies, but his passion was the Flyers where he attended many games with his children for the past few decades.
Dennis was selfless with his time mentoring and guiding family, friends, and strangers. He made many people laugh (he loved puns) while also providing wisdom, and at times, the hard truths of fatherly advice doing so as a gentleman and true friend. He was known to provide service with quiet joy and selfless contentment.
He is survived by son, Kent (& Rachel) Conlan; son, Brad (& Betsy) Conlan; daughter, Megan Conlan; son, Wade (& Willa) Conlan; four grandchildren, Padraic Conlan, Gretchen Conlan, Ryan (& Emily) Conaty and Katie (& Anthony) Marino; and two great grandchildren, Alaina and AJ. He is also survived by siblings Tom (& Glenda) Conlan and Jill (Al) Masarik, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life is being planned.
Interment will be private in Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Newark, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions made in his name to: Cancer Research Institute (https://www.cancerresearch.org/) or your local fire and rescue stations.
