Obituary of Jason R. Minehart

Jason Minehart, 21, of Collegeville, passed away on November 5, 2016. He was born in Chestnut Hill, PA on April 18, 1995, the son of Richard Minehart and Heather (Whitaker) Karr. Jason was a 2014 graduate of Spring-Ford High School. Jason was very quiet, but bright and had a wonderful sense of humor. He earned his Black Belt in Tang Soo Do karate. Jason also enjoyed reading, playing basketball, video games, and listening to music. Growing up, he excelled in school academics. One of his favorite activities were fishing at his grandparent's lake house near Lake Wallenpaupack with his Dad and aunts, Annie, Sarah, Emily, Lisa and Marie. Later he suffered from PTSD, depression and addiction that ultimately stole his life prematurely. Survivors include his mother and step-father, Heather & Richard Karr of Collegeville; father, Richard Minehart of Worcester; step brother, Benjamin Karr of Wayne, step sister, Hannah Karr of Wayne; Grandparents, Linda & Ken Keane of Denver, PA; Richard & Gail Minehart of Worcester, PA; and Cheryl Whitaker of Wilmington, NC. Jason's Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Eleanor's RC Church, 647 Locust Street, Collegeville, PA 19426. Friends may attend a viewing on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:15 AM at the church. Interment will be private.
