MARJORIE FRANCES ALLAN passed away on November 15 at her home in West
Chester, Pennsylvania.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oaks on Saturday,
November 19 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Daniel Olsen officiating. Burial will follow
immediately afterward at the church cemetery. Moore, Snear & Ruggiero of Trappe will
be handling the funeral arrangements.
Marjorie was born in Conshohocken to Frances (née Dankelman) and Daniel
Kirkpatrick on November 19, 1925. She attended Norristown High School and then
went on to graduate from Ursinus College in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in
both Math and English. In 1947 she married John Allan and moved to Easton while John
attended Lafayette University. After his degree from Lafayette was earned the family
eventually settled in Audubon, Pennsylvania, to raise their four daughters. During this
time Marjorie chose to make a loving, creative and active home environment for her
growing children. Marjorie (known as “Jinx” to her friends) volunteered in various
ministries of St. Paul’s church, Oaks, pursued further education in Art Appreciation at
the Barnes Foundation, traveled extensively with her husband, children and
grandchildren, substitute taught in Montgomery County high schools, learned to play
golf, became a volunteer docent at the Wharton Esherick Museum, and maintained
close friendships that lasted throughout her life.
Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Berchtold, Vero Beach, Florida, Jean
Gardocki, West Chester and Amy Sharadin, Royersford, four grandsons and four great
grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, John, and her daughter,
Marjorie McCarthy.
