Professionally, while serving as the President of the Central Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, he was instrumental in the formation of BISPP, the Business Industry Partnership Program between the Greater Norristown business community and the Norristown Area School District. In addition, he has served on the Vo-Tech Advisory Council for the Center for Technical Studies, the Pennsylvania Advisory Council on Vocation Education, and he has served as a facilitator for the Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week, and as a board member for the Literacy Council of Norristown. His business career is long and storied, with a focus on non-profit business organizations designed to promote business and community interests. In addition to the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Burt has been associated with the National Alliance of Business, the Pennsylvania Smaller Industry Coalition, the Manufacturers Association of Delaware Valley, and the Manufacturers Association of Montgomery County. This work experience has made him a valuable board member, affiliate, delegate, and/or officer for the Greater Norristown Corporation, the Montgomery County Foundation, the Montgomery Hospital Foundation, the Montgomery County Cultural Center, the Montgomery County Drug Awareness Coalition, Montgomery County Private Industry Council, the Opportunities Industrialization Council of Montgomery County, the Governor’s Advisory Council on Safety, the White House Conference on Small Business, and RSVP of Montgomery County. In addition, Mr. Burt has been constantly active civically in the Greater Norristown/Montgomery County area. A member of the Plymouth Meeting Evangelical Congregational Church for over 60 years, he has served as a board member, a conference delegate, a Sunday school teacher, a choir member and soloist. He has also been a member of the Christian Businessmen’s Committee of King of Prussia, and served on the executive committee for the Valley Forge Leadership Prayer Breakfast. Mr. Burt even shared his love and talent for music and the arts as a member of the Norristown Chorale and as a board member for The Centre Theater in Norristown. Other civic associations and memberships have included the Toastmasters International, the YMCA of Norristown, the Red Cross of Montgomery County, the Human Services Institute of Montgomery County, and the Kiwanis Club of Norristown. And every Wednesday from 2002 until May 2016 Mr. Burt volunteered at Montgomery/Einstein Hospital.
