What a sad day this one, now that I have read about Howard's passing. Some voice inside me wanted me to google his name today... Howard was my first and ever mentor growing up. I have spent my first no-parent holiday with him when he took me up to Montana for some flyfishing. I can truly say that this trip has opened my eyes in many ways. The wooden sign of Red Rock Kreek, which he had stolen from the roadside especially for me, is still a strong memory of those days. I will never forget him. Besides that, Rosemary was ever so kind to have me, and some years later my whole family as a guest in her home. I still carry very warm memories of my stays with the Eskins. Much love from Holland to all of the Eskin family

Myron, then traffic manager of ADP Fort Washington, assigned me the job of meeting Howard at the Philadelphia International Airport and driving him home. Unfortunately I had never met Howard. Signals were arranged: I was to go to the arrival gate (allowed then) and Howard would be carrying a red ADP payroll pouch in his right hand.
This was to be the first of many rides to and from both the Philadelphia and Newark airports. Although I did not know it at the time, Howard was looking to outsource ADP delivery services. My small business, All American Courier, was providing a small amount of on demand service to ADP. I was being screened. Howard soon assigned All American Courier a regular daily trip, and then watched us very carefully over time. I guess we passed the test. Several years later we were doing 3,000 deliveries a week, about 50% of the daily deliveries. In his wisdom, Howard never put all his eggs in one basket and always retained the services of several other vendors.
At the time, I didn’t realize that Howard was a developer of people. He encouraged me to do more than I thought we could, and I didn’t even realize what he was doing for us. At one point after we had taken on a big chunk of new work, he said to me, “and you didn’t even think you could do it, did you?” I had to admit he was right. Howard knew how to develop people, even me! At this point, All American Courier is a successful small business of many years. For this, I thank Howard.
