Obituary of Marjean Willett

Marjean R. Willett, age 93, of Kennett Square, PA, passed away on April 18, 2018 at the Chester County Hospital. In 1966 she married Herbert Willett who passed away in 1984 and she then moved to Kendal in March of 2000. Born in Newton, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Austin McConnell and the late Florence McConnell. She graduated in from Newton Grammar High School. Marjean received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1945 from the Douglass College, a Bachelor of Science Degree for Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1948, a Master of Science Degree in Urban Planning from the Columbia University in 1956 which led her to working in New York City with a number of consultants designing parks, playgrounds, highway landscapes and interchanges and finally working for Vollmer Associates on statewide recreation planning in Indiana, New York and Connecticut. She enjoyed working in watercolor and pastel painting, volunteering for meals on wheels and volunteering for 26 years for the Senior Watercolor classes, she was also Secretary of the Board of Culpepper Garden for low income senior housing and volunteered for a number of Unitarian activities. She was also the First President and Founding Member of the Columbia Pike Artist Studios in Arlington, VA and worked with many private and public collections. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Kendal at a date to be determined and you are invited to visit with her family and friends.
