Joey was my cousin. The boy was impossible to hate. I looked forward to seeing him every time there was a gathering. I am an amateur writer and Joey loved my work. The first time I think he was ever truly exposed to it was when I learned how smart he really was with the questions he asked of it. So I always asked him for feedback. And I never told him I loved him but I did. Every time he accomplished something amazing I always told him I was proud of him and I wanted to see him do well as much as anyone else. We had significant losses in the family before but this one really hit us hard. Goodbye, kid. Love you.

I was very fortunate to know Joey. We met freshman year at college, and even though we didn't spend much time together, seeing him always brought a smile to my face. He was so kind and outgoing. It was always fun and easy to have a conversation with him. I will miss him and keep him in my heart.
Sincerely,
Josh Fishman

Joey was one of the most thoughtful and caring students I've ever been lucky enough to meet. He had a hungry mind and enjoyed digging deep into any subject. He also was sure to encourage others to speak up and add to the conversation. I am so sad that the world has lost such a wonderful person. My deepest and sincerest condolences to his friends and family.

Joey aka JoJo was the one of the most sincere and welcoming guys I got to hang out with. Always warm and laughing with friends, always including everyone and thinking of others first. It is a true and great loss, but I am incredibly grateful instead for all the positive moments and memories I got with JoJo.

Joey, you’ll be missed dearly. I was always happy to see you around Etown because you were actually one of the few kids at Etown I liked. I hope you are at peace. God bless your family in their time of need.

So very sad news.
Joey was truly a pure hearted soul 100% sincere in all that he did. I had the pleasure to first witness his kindness he as a young boy playing soccer with Aaron. Then inviting Aaron to join him in pack 6. And getting together with Aaron at our house he was always a joy to talk to. His kindness will always be remembered.

I didn't know Joey very well. My wife and I are friends with Kim, so I don't have many memories to share but I wanted to mention that even though we were only "friends of his mother's", he never failed to come over and greet us and shmooze for a moment whenever he saw us in the restaurant where he worked. He struck me as a well mannered, genuinely nice kid. We are deeply saddened.
