Obituary of Joan A. Mitchell

Joan A. (Manhart) Mitchell, age 76 of Blue Bell, died Friday, April 12, 2013 at Mercy Suburban Hospital of East Norriton, PA. Wife of Robert E. Mitchell. Born in Greentown, Pa. on June 23, 193, she is the daughter of the late Merton Manhart and Dorothy ( Rake ) Manhart. Joan lived in Blue Bell, Pa since 1969, formerly of West Chester, Pa. She was a member of Methacton Mennonite Church, where she was a former pre-school & Bible school teacher. She was a graduate of Green Dreher Sterling High School in New Foundland, Pa and West Chester College and graduated from Chester County School of Nursing. Joan worked as a Registered Nurse with Chester County Hospital, then North Penn Hospital. She enjoyed sudoko, crossword puzzles, mystery books and being a grandmother. In addition to her husband , she is survived by her children, Matthew Mitchell of Blue Bell, Mildred Mitchell of Norristown, Andrew Mitchell of Blue Bell, Leslie (John) Yoder of Blue Bell and Emily Mitchell of East Norriton; sister Linda ( Donald) Shepard; and sister-in-law Jane Manhunt. Also survived by four granddaughters and two great grandchildren. Along with her parents she was predeceased in death by her Brother William Manhart and a sister, Blanch Zacharias. Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. from Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 19 East Germantown Pike, East Norriton. Friends may call on Saturday from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will be private in Washington Crossing National Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her memory to Multiple Sclerosis Society, 30 South 17th Street, Suite 800, Philadelphia, PA 19103 or Special Olympics Pennsylvania - Eastern Office, 2570 Boulevard of The Generals, Suite 124, Norristown, PA 19403 .
