Obituary of Nathan H. Wolf, Jr.

Nathan H. Wolf Jr., age 83 of Norristown died May 18, 2013 after a struggle with dementia. He was a lifetime resident of the Montgomery County, a community in which he served and loved. Wolf was born in Oxford, PA on February 4, 1930. He lost his mother as an infant and was adopted by Nathan and Gertrude Wolf of Norristown, his uncle and aunt. He graduated from Norristown High School in 1948, and from Pierce School of Business before joining Tube Methods Inc. in Bridgeport, a family owned business his father started in 1943. Wolf was honorably discharged from the US Army as a Private First Class. He served from 1954 to 1956 in Germany during the Korean War. He returned to Tube Methods Inc. and became its president in 1958. Wolf was active community member and in 1958 he joined the board of Riverview Hospital, now Mercy Suburban Hospital. He served as president of the board and was instrumental in moving it to its current location on DeKalb Street East Norriton. Wolf was president of the Norristown Rotary Club, and president of the Norristown Area Junior Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a former 32 Scottish Rite member of the Valley of Allentown, a Blue Lodge member of Charity Lodge # 190 in Jeffersonville and degree and a member of the Valley Forge High Twelve Club #305. In 1964 Wolf became charter member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montgomeryville. He was president of the church council for many years and also a member of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Wolf was a lifetime member of the Norristown Commercial Club and involved in the operation of the club throughout the 1980's and 90's. His lifetime passion, in addition to his community work, was gardening. During his teenage years, his father and he grew chrysanthemums and participated in flower shows throughout the region, which he later judged. A memorial service will be held at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home on 19 Germantown, Pike, East Norriton, PA at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 1st. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M., immediately followed by burial at Riverside Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his wife Sally Ann (Perry) Wolf. Wolf is survived by his two son, Nathan H. Wolf III of Ephrata, and Randall Wolf and his wife Julia Church of Garrison, NY; grand-daughters, Karen Boley Lando of Ephrata, her children Emily and Blake, and Marybeth Carreno of Kennent Square and her son Gabriel; brothers William Wolf of Oxford, and Jacob Earl Wolf of Powell, WY; and by his longtime friend and companion, Carol Graham of Royersford. His family and friends wish to thank the staff of Southeastern Veterans Center in Spring City for the compassionate care he received during his time there.
