Obituary of Bernard V. DiGiacomo

Bernard V. (Ben) DiGiacomo, 90, of Jeffersonville, PA passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013 after a long, rich life filled with family and dear friends. He was the devoted husband of the late Rita M. (Van Harper) Risi DiGiacomo who passed away in 2004 and was joined by his step-son, Anthony Risi in 2008. He is survived by granddaughters Kristin Risi (Brian Gatlin) and Karin Risi (Sean McHale), nieces JoAnne Lechowicz (Robert), Alberta Gaskill (Russell) and Maria Greco, great grandchildren Quinn McHale and Benjamin McHale and his beloved shih tzu "puppy", Maggie Marie, his long-time best friend and faithful companion. A 1940 graduate of the former Conshohocken High School, Ben was a proud United States veteran of WWII serving with honor in the Pacific Theatre, receiving three Bronze Stars and a Victory Medal. After the war, Ben received his undergraduate degree from Ursinus College and his law degree from Temple University School of Law. In 1952, Ben was admitted to practice as an attorney in Pennsylvania Supreme Court, Pennsylvania Superior Court, and Montgomery County. He was admitted to practice before the Eastern District of Pennsylvania (Federal Court) in 1956, and the United States Tax Court in 1972. Ben established a law practice and was active continuously for over 60 years in Norristown and Conshohocken. He was associated at different times with other attorneys including Messrs. Lowe, Fox, Differ, Lynch, Ruth, Morris, and Stern. Respected for his wise counsel, candor, and wit, Ben served as trusted advisor and mentor to many during his long career. He was affiliated with many civic, professional and social associations over the years, including the Andrew J. Lannutti Post 18 of Conshohocken and the Conshohocken Bocce Club (CBC). He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, regaling them with stories from his lifetime of colorful exploits.
