He was a very active member of St. Patrick's RC Church of Norristown, Pa, where he was a founding member of the Patrician Society and helped with many fund raising projects, the church named their hall McLaughlin Hall in his honor
Joseph was a Sargeant in the US Army during the Korean War and recieved Occupational Medal for Germany and the National Defense Service Medal
He worked as a Manager with Sears at Logan Square and Upper Darby stores
He enjoyed Railroading, traveling and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren
Obituary of Joseph J. McLaughlin
Joseph J. McLaughlin Jr., age 81 of Norristown, died Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Einstein Montgomery Medical Center of East Norriton.
Husband of Helen (O'Donnell) McLaughlin.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on August 21, 1932, son of the late Catherine (Lambert) and Joseph J. McLaughlin.
Joseph has lived in Norristown for over 45 years, formerly of Philadelphia, Pa where he was born and raised.
He was a very active member of St. Patrick's RC Church of Norristown, Pa, where he was a founding member of the Patrician Society and helped with many church functions and fund raising projects, the church named their hall McLaughlin Hall in his honor.
Joseph was a Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War and received Occupational Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
He worked as a Manager with Sears at Logan Square and Upper Darby stores.
He enjoyed Railroading, traveling and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren
In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by a son, Joseph J. (& Heather) McLaughlin, III of Roseville, CA; daughter,Susan (& David Weakley) McLaughlin of Phoenixville; brother, John McLaughlin of St. Petersburg, FL; sisters, Catherine Landherr of Philadelphia, Regina Gwynn of Ridley Park, Mary Gorczynski of Aberdeen, NJ. Also survived by 5 Grandchildren Logan, Megan, Jaden, Hazel & Oliver.
Along with his parents he was preceded in Death by a Brother Thomas McLaughlin.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. from the St. Patrick's RC Church, 714 DeKalb Street, Norristown, Pa 19401. Clergy: Fr. Gus Puleo officiating.
Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 19 East Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA and Thursday Morning from 9:00 to 9:50 A.M. at the Church
Interment will be in St. Patrick's Mausoleum, East Norriton, PA.
