Obituary of John Haub, Jr.
John Haub, Jr.
On Sunday, December 20, 2020, John Haub, Jr, loving husband, father of four and grandfather to two, peacefully departed this life at the age of 89.
John, a lifelong resident of Plymouth Meeting, PA, was born on September 11, 1931, the only child of the late John and Emma (Guenther) Haub. An alumnus of Plymouth Meeting Friends School, John graduated from Springfield High School and attended Penn State University, prior to enlisting in the Army. Upon completion of his military service, John joined the Philadelphia National Bank in the International Loan Department. John saw the bank transition from PNB to CoreStates Bank, from which he retired in 1996. After his retirement from banking, John began a new “career” as a volunteer with Montgomery Hospital, serving over twenty years in that capacity.
John loved his Penn State Nittany Lions – rooting passionately through years of ups and downs. He was an avid stamp collector who loved receiving the unique and unusual stamp from friends and family when they traveled. John served for many years as a scout master with the Boy Scouts of America, mentoring for others with a kind and gentle spirit. Bowling, whether for church or bank bowling leagues, was another of John’s pastimes in his younger years. John was also a very skilled gardener; his family was the beneficiary of his talents, enjoying the bounty of fresh grown fruits and vegetables produced through his labors of love.
Nothing was more important to John than time spent with friends and family. All year he looked forward to family gatherings on the Outer Banks and at Christmastime. John modeled a life of humility and kindness and never met a stranger.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Fay J. (Faulkner) Haub, and one of his daughters, Hope Emma Cirelli. Survivors include, daughter Janice Ryerson (James) of Arlington, VA; son John F. Haub of Plymouth Meeting, PA; daughter Cynthia Haub of East Norriton, PA; Son-In-Law Jeffery Cirelli of Fernandina Beach, FL; and granddaughters Rachel Cirelli Roberson (Adam) and Leah Cirelli of Fernandina Beach, FL.
John was a member of Plymouth Meeting Evangelical Congregational Church in Plymouth Meeting.
John's graveside service will take place on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, Pa 19002.
