Obituary of Joseph F. Sakowski

Joseph Sakowski , 88, of Plymouth Meeting, passed away on March 11, 2016 at his home. Joe painted the world with laughter, lots of jokes, and a wonderful smile. He was surrounded by family and lots of love when he passed. He was born in Shenandoah, PA on September 27, 1927 to the late Frank and Mary Elizabeth (Morris) Sakowski. Joe has been living in Plymouth Meeting since 1950. He was an active member of Saint Paul's Church in East Norriton and especially enjoyed volunteering for the parish Christmas bazaar. Joe loved to travel and was a true New York Yankees fan. He worked as an Industrial Painter. At any family gathering, he was the pied piper for the children. Joe honorably served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was in Japan at the end of World War II with the occupation. His legacy of service in the Navy was carried on by his son Mark (U.S. Navy retired), and his grandson Scott who is currently serving in the Navy. Survivors include his wife, Ann Sakowski of Plymouth Meeting; son, Mark Sakowski of Williamsburg, VA; grandson, Christopher Sakowski of Jacksonville, FL; grandson, Scott Sakowski of San Diego, CA; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Sakowski as well as three brothers and two sisters. His Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 10:30 AM from the St. Paul Catholic Church, 2007 New Hope St., East Norriton PA 19401. Fr. Harry E. McCreedy will celebrate the Mass. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at the Church. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Paul's Church at the above address.
