I was a high school freshman at Alleman High School, Rock Island Illinois. Father Bassett taught Latin. He was so kind and patient to this little foster girl. He has held a place in my heart even after all these years.

Professor Bassett was my teacher many years ago at USF School of Law. He was an intellectual giant, an inspiration to us students, and a very kind man. The world needs more men of faith and reason, and he will be missed. - Ron McGaw (Class of 1987)

My condolences to the family of this great man. I attended St.Mary of the Lake from 1956-1959, and those who know Bill will recognize him in this picture I made of his ordination class. An honor to. have known him. He lives on in our memories.
