Michael Pochettino posted a condolence
Monday, December 18, 2023
I first met George after my family moved next door during the summer of 1979. Scott and I were already friends from high school, but I did not have the pleasure of George’s acquaintance until after moving in. George was always extremely kind to me, usually in the form of friendly but extremely thorough mocking of my latest exploits that one could always tell was based on genuine affection and caring. He and Peg always made me feel welcome in the Stone home, and my encounters with them brightened my day and put a smile on my face. Through all the teasing and banter, there was something incredibly genuine about George, and you knew that he would do anything for you whenever you might ask. While I always took his pilot exploits, as told by him, with a grain of salt, it is somewhat ironic that I ended up as a designer of avionics systems for the top fighter aircraft in the world. Daily I find myself in the company of many of George’s younger “ brothers “ and their service humbles me. It is a big part of why I do what I do, and by extension it gave me a deep appreciation of George’s service that I still think of from time to time while on the job. My deepest condolences to the entire family, and my wish to you is that the laughter that George brought into all of your lives helps take away some the sting off of your grief.

My memories of George date back several years and in addition to our golf days we were proud Americans who believed in our great country and celebrated our military service in an annual golf and family dinner each year with george Grahn(marines), Ben Jones(army) and Pete Gibbons(navy). George was our hero with that fighter pilot mentality and aggressive combative life style. He will be greatly missed and as Taps are played over his grave we will always have space in our lives for the many memories he gave us.
I see you in a sleek new fighter plane heading north to the heavens where once again we may all meet and play another round of golf like the good old days'
My sympathies go out to the family and he always be the loving father and grand father as he should be remembered. I will not attend the service since I am recovering from recent brain surgery.
Good by great friend and Janet sends her condolences to the family and always remembers the great days of fun and companionship.
