Obituary of Alma L. Friedberger

Alma L. Friedberger, age 86, of Harleysville, PA passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 13, 1937, the daughter of the late John R. Gallagher, Sr. and the late Alma M. (Hagstrom) Gallagher.

She graduated from Most Blessed Sacrament Grade School and West Catholic Girls High School, both in West Philadelphia.

Alma was a longtime resident of Blue Bell, PA and Collegeville, PA before moving to the Arbour Square Community in Harleysville, where she has lived for eight years.

She was a former parishioner of St. Helena RC Church and a current parishioner of St. Eleanor RC Church.

She was veracious reader, enjoyed trivia, current events and crossword puzzles. Most of all, she was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who referred to her as "Mim" and was a frequent babysitter.

She was the wife of the late Joseph Friedberger. Following the death of her spouse, she learned how to bowl and enjoyed participating in bowling leagues. She looked forward to an occasional trip to Atlantic City to visit the Casinos. Alma will be remembered for her smile that lit up a room, her appreciation of fine Irish Whiskey and her quick, albeit occasionally sharp wit. She was not shy about sharing her thoughts regarding any and all topics and you never quite knew what to expect when she shared her thoughts, as she could be brutally honest but never mean spirited. She was deeply loved and will be sadly missed.

She is survived by three daughters, Deborah (Frank III) Cerminaro of Jim Thorpe, PA, Alma (Ben) Buono of Wyndmoor, PA, and Karen (Dominic) Conicelli of Skippack, PA; ten grandchildren, Nicole, Samantha, Frank, Antonio, Amanda, Tommy, Christina, Jillian, Katie and Holly; and eleven great grandchildren, Raegan, Luke, Lou, Lillian, Logan, Jacob, Juliette, Joseph, Dominic, Georgia and Andre.

Along with her husband and parents, Alma was preceded in death by four siblings, Jack Gallagher, Richard Gallagher, Janice O'Keefe, and Thomas Gallagher.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 11:30 AM in St. Eleanor's RC Church, 647 Locust Street, Collegeville, PA 19426.

Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Tuesday morning from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM at the Church.

Interment will be private at a later date in St. Patrick Cemetery, East Norriton, PA.

In lieu of flowers, Alma's family would appreciate contributions made in her name to Laurel House, https://laurel-house.org/help/donate-today/
