Obituary of Zohrab Khatchadourian

Zohrab “Khatch” Khatchadourian, age 92, of Audubon, PA passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

Khatch was born on February 16^th, 1932. From Beirut, Lebanon he was the son of the late Manuel and Nekdar (Tchorbajian) Khatchadourian.  He is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Lois Khatchadourian, brothers Hovsep Khatchadourian, Nubar Khatchadourian, Souren Khatchadourian, and his sister, Olivia Khatchadourian Bakamjian.  He is survived by two daughters, Lee Khatchadourian-Reese (Jon Reese) and Erica Khatchadourian (Wade Alt); and five grandchildren, Max and Camille Reese; Cole, Kaiden, and Grant Alt.

Khatch began his higher education at the American University of Beirut as a student in the Pharmacy school. After completing one year, he left Beirut and followed his brother to America and studied at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering. 

While at Pratt he met his future wife, Lois Macaluso. Upon graduation, he worked for Philco-Ford as an engineer and moved to Chalfont, Pennsylvania where he and Lois raised their family. Eventually, Khatch and Lois moved to Collegeville and most recently lived at Shannondell in Audubon, PA.

Khatch was a serial entrepreneur. He was the founder/co-founder of several enterprises across various industries, most notably a real estate development company, Heather Homes, UVOCS Inc., an enterprise that manufactures Ultraviolet Ozone Cleaning Stations, and then joined EL Associates as a partner. He did a stint as a realtor at JR Brode and had some fun “side gigs” including a magnetic sign-making company, as well as an art dealership.  Ultimately, he retired from Abelstik, a company that produced adhesives.

Khatch and his family enjoyed spending time at their summer home in Long Beach Island, NJ. An avid DIYer, Khatch could always be found making improvements to both of his houses which might consist of fixing things, renovating kitchens and baths, or building furniture. He was the first one to lend a hand to family, friends, and neighbors.  He was an enthusiastic gardener and delighted in competition to grow the largest tomato.

The light of his life was his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and loyal friend. He had an infectious personality, was always the life of the party, kept everyone laughing and his smile would light up a room.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

There will be a private burial with immediate family at St. John Neuman Cemetery in Chalfont, PA.
