As amazing as Mac was as a father and husband, he was just as awesome as our favorite uncle. "Uncle Mac" spread love and laughter to everyone in his extended family. He was the relative who always made you feel comfortable and included, but also special, often with just a simple gesture or a well-timed quip - always with a smile and a wink. He was a rock for my mother when she needed him, and a welcoming refuge for her kids who provided unfailing warmth, kindness and humor in good times and bad. (And bad times never stayed that way for long in his presence). Many anecdotes come to mind, but one that stands out is he let me tag along with him as a kid to watch a game at the local "social club" (KOC?), and allowed me my first sip of beer (a key rite of passage), on a "don't tell your mom" basis. I never did, Uncle Mac, and I love your spirit and your devotion to your family and your faith. We will all greatly miss Uncle Mac, and he is forever in our hearts.

What can I say about Mac
Yes, YMCA was his signature party goto - he knew how to have fun anywhere anytime. One of my favorite memories was out trip to Japan. Though we, Dolores, Mac and I traveled to many places such as Munich, Montreal and of course Japan, this was one of my favorites with Mac. It was March 2000, the three of us went together and since it was around Mac birthday we did a lot of celebrating. The trip was technically a business trip for Dolores and me, but we had a heck of a good time evenings and weekends. One Sunday Mac and I decided to go to Kyoto (Coyote is what Mac called it) Dolores decided to
stay behind. Mac and I got our tickets for the bullet train and off we went. It was amazing, but on the way back it became an adventure, as with most trips with Mac. After visiting the temples and shrines we came out on a street we did not recognize. We needed to catch the train back, but we had no idea where the station was (no smartphones).
So we hailed a taxi. After desperately trying to communicate with the driver that we needed to go to the train station, (MAC with choo-choo sounds and all) the driver finally although reluctantly, started to drive us. It was a very short drive, the train station was literally across the street. Yes, the driver had a good laugh on our account and so did we. We thanked him, paid the minimal fee, got out and then we cracked up.
Once at the station - yep you guessed it the adventure continued - we got on the wrong train back going the wrong way. Somehow we managed to get back to Tokyo, changing trains several times, but we did it, we made it back - late and exhausted.
On our flight back to the US we continued to celebrate Mac’s bday, so I had the pilot announce it on the loud speaker and the passengers sang Happy Birthday while Mac stood up and conducted the serenade and then he bowed like a superstar!!
He was a superstar! He loved life, he loved his family and his friends, and he got back the love he gave!!
May the roads leading to the Gates of Heaven be lined with shamrocks and may leprechauns greet you at the gate my dear friend. I love you!

Mac was the funnest person I ever knew. He always at great lengths made you feel special and include you in his favorite jokes that we never tired to hear.
He had a great love of family and was very sensitive to people’s needs.
I love the way he included you in his conversation and it was like one great party being with him. His sense of humor was a comic act and timing impeccable.
We will miss his wit, love and good will that he showed everyone he knew. Rip Mac you are one person who only comes around once and glad our paths meet and we were able to enjoy you.
