Obituary of Francis G. McFadden

Francis G. McFadden

Francis George McFadden. November 9, 2019 age 83.  Son of the late Francis and Gertrude (nee Kelly) McFadden.  Devoted husband of Dolores (nee Pagano) McFadden.  Father of Francis McFadden of Athens, Ohio, Maryanne (& William) Janschka of Villanova, Pa, Lynda McFadden of Virginia Beach, Va, Michele (& D. Scott) Porreca of Blue Bell, Pa , Kristina McFadden of Newtown, Pa, and Daniel (Jennilyn) McFadden of King of Prussia, Pa. Beloved grandfather to Tim, Emily, Daniel, Liam, Matthew, Ben and Maggie.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Joan McFadden Welsh and a cousin Audrey Clark.

Francis George “Mac” McFadden passed away peacefully on November 9, 2019.  Born on March 14, 1936, he was the son of the late Francis and Gertrude McFadden of Conshohocken, PA.

After graduating from St. Matthews, Mac left Conshohocken to serve in the US Army during the Korean War. Like many in his generation, he returned home after the war and completed college on the GI Bill, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Villanova University.  Mac married his sweetheart Dolores and settled first in Upper Darby and then King of Prussia to raise their six children. He worked his whole career at Pinto Brothers as an accountant in the Food Distribution Center in Philadelphia.

Mac was a die-hard Philadelphia sports fan. Sunday football with Mac involved watching the game on mute, while tuning in to the real announcers on the radio. Even after a debilitating stroke stole his speech, somehow Mac could still get a choice word out after a botched play or a bad call.

Most important to Mac was his family. He was a creative, goofy, fun-loving dad who made his whole family laugh. His wit and timing were almost as legendary as his YMCA dance routine at weddings. He was thrilled as grandchildren came into his life, now having a new generation to love and entertain.

When the duties of work and raising children eased, Mac and Dolores enjoyed traveling far and wide with Germany, Italy, Japan and China topping their lists.

Mac’s strong faith in God remained steadfast. This faith endured as his body began to fail and he was at peace knowing he would soon return home into His Father’s loving embrace.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday, November 14th from 10:00 am till 10:45 am at Mother of Divine Providence Catholic Church, 333 Allendale Road, King of Prussia, PA 19406, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at the church.

Interment will be at St. Matt’s Cemetery in Conshohocken immediately following mass.
